Korea Semester Abroad 9: Andong Culture Village & Futsal
26.08.2022 - 09.01.2023
Halloween Parties & Work
28.10.2022 – Friday:
On Friday, there was a KNU Halloween costume party organized by KNUSA, followed by a trip downtown to celebrate the end of the midterms. Many friends also went to Seoul to the "Strike Festival", while I stayed behind in Daegu: For said party but also for work. I am currently working as a web developer at IXTENSA from the "home-office-far-away" and there is a major update of a website coming up, which can't be done on the side like all the previous tickets.
So I buy a cheap devil costume together for the costume party and off we go. We first spend a bit of time in the German room, which we got access to because we helped some girls at the Jubilee Festival with German work (we are here often) and then in the KNU main building "Global Plaza". There everyone played with a "dating app" developed by me and a fellow student (Lasse).
Then off to downtown and there while partying successfully lose the complete costume again in the course of the evening.
Andong Cultural Experience
29.10.2022 – Saturday:
No I do not know when we are home.
However, on Saturday was also directly a cultural excursion organized by the university to "Andong Cultural Village" and I take that too! Here we have a traditional mask dance (oh dear...), the beautiful autumn landscape of the Cultural Village viewed and very good cured fish eaten. By the way, it hasn't really gotten much colder yet, even to the beginning of November: Snakes are still around. However, the trees are slowly starting to get more colorful foliage.
The German National Team in Korea
06.11.2022 – Sunday
On sunday a group of friends signed up with me for a futsal hobbykicker tournament about 1h away from campus in the sports center Daegus - the „2022 Daegu World Futsal Festival“: Soccer with smaller goals, field and 4 field players + 1 goalkeeper. We went by bus and were there from 11 am to 7 pm. Since we all like to eat chicken in Korea, we wanted to call ourselves "chicken rippers". But the "ß" was interpreted as "b". Then we are just the "Chicken Reiber". Apart from my dreaded talent with the ball on my foot, it was really fun and we even got a sweater, socks, bag, blanket and towel. I just stood in the defense and cleaned up internationally. We ended up 6th out of 15 teams and everyone had fun.
and after that it was time to go back to the university again.
